Literal Death of God... what do you think?
by DeusMauzzim inanyone here ever did some research on the "death of god" theological movement in the sixties, connected with names as altizer and van buren?.
summary: the central idea is that god existed once, but literally died for us, emptying himself in the creation of the world, and later completely on the stauros.
as he gave himself without holding anything back, there has been no resurrection as in mainstream theology (radical kenoma).

Gods were created on the basis of human ignorance and imagination as it was thousands of years ago as it is today, over the centuries we've slowly and painfully gained knowledge
of the world around us through discoveries and scientific conclusions. The door of this knowledge has just begun to open, look how far and how much we've gained in just the last century
alone. I personally cherish the wisdom of the truth of knowledge and dealing with the reality of life as it presents itself, good or bad.. If anyone thinks that human ignorance was not prevalent
thousands of years ago, one really needs to do some in-deft history reading or read the bible, Torah, or any ancient religious manuscripts to prove my point. Mysticism is imagination
supported by ignorance in the human mind, this separates itself from reality and conclusion. Perhaps if men were to finally walk away from their gods and walk toward humanity together we
would be better off, I think so. In my opinion the death of a god can only happen in the minds of the people who first created it.

What's your name for 'Watchtower Speak'?
by sweet pea inhaving put some distance in between us and the wts, i can't read any of the society's publications without feeling extremely uncomfortable and irritated by the tone and language that the society uses.
it all sounds the same - patronising, guilt-inducing, condescending, intellectually unchallenging, etc.
as far as i'm aware the term is 'watchtower speak'.

It's very apparent they were exploiting and manipulating the good book for their purposes, call it coercion with intent to gain power and also to commercialize their products
the unfortunate thing is that it worked. Perhaps you might want to investigate the commercial aspect of this religion since it was started mainly by businessmen, structured marketing can be
found in the most unusual places
In other words your being educated on human ignorance, but if you buy their policy of fear well power to ya or I should say power to them.
You may have just indulged yourself with the truth of human ignorance.

1914, Generation doctrine belief change!
by Gill ini had the dubious pleasure of explaining the 1914 generation change doctrine to a relative who has been a jw for all of his life the other day.
he didn't even know that there had been a generation change and that the wt was no longer claiming that those alive in 1914 would still be alive when armageddon struck.. however, he said he would only believe me if i could tell him the exact date of the watchtower that explained this change.. though i know it is 1995, i do not know the exact date/issue and he refused to research it claiming it would show lack of faith on his part if he questioned his beliefs....but he said he would look it up if i told him which issue it was.. so, please, could anyone direct me to the exact issue in which this world shattering event was revealed?.
i remember, many jws, especially elderly ones being shocked at this revelation, but obviously this particular relative was not concentrating at the time!!

Yes I would also advise to take your car for there is much to see and the sites are far apart, not difficult to find mind you just far apart, and don't forget to see Victoria it's the prettiest town on
the west coast..........I'm a Vancouverite and have been over there many times. What I would do is catch the first ferry at twassen with your car, It's about an hour and a half trip on the ferry
which you'll enjoy, very scenic, then once you arrive at Swartz bay it's about I think a half hour drive to Butchart gardens and then another half an hour to Victoria @.

All current JWs: What is this?
by AuldSoul inthe bible students in 1918 numbered very few, fewer than 6,000. within three years, the number tripled.. the "intriguing subject" they proclaimed from 1918 through 1922 was "millions now living will never die.
" upwards of 70,000 attended to hear this message proclaimed in germany alone.
the talk series had a longer title, "the world has endedmillions now living will never die.
